My teaching is mainly Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga with a focus on safety and stability. I specialize in a Slow flow with long holds, varying in intensity, and using props liberally to make the practice more accessible to people of all body types and abilities. I can also tailor a class around your sports injury, or to help you reduce stress and anxiety, to help you build muscle and/or bone density, or to assist you in connecting with your body using trauma-sensitive techniques. I also incorporate other body movement and exercises to help release stress from the deep muscles, which have personally helped me with chronic pain and continue to help me keep my nervous system regulated. This is an online class so you can practice in the comfort of your home. Trauma-sensitive yoga is an evidence-based practice that helps the practitioner reconnect with the physical body in a very gentle way, calms the nervous system, and brings choice into the practice. Absolutely no experience necessary and you can practice on a mat or in a chair. This is not a typical yoga class. 60 minutes. $15 We'll meet every other week and you can register using the link below.
About my yoga background:
I've been studying yoga since 1996. After many years of on again/off again, I finally committed to teaching and studied my first 200 hours with Jennifer Bonadio in Maui, HI in 2012. She taught me Hatha yoga, meditation, pranayama, and yoga nidra, with a focus on safety and stability, which she learned from Gary Kraftsow (founder of Viniyoga). I later completed my 300 hour training in Therapeutic Yoga with Cathy Mann in Millis, MA in 2015. Her program is now called Transformational yoga due to Yoga Alliance's compliance rules. ** Outside of that, I've studied Yin yoga, Restorative yoga, Trauma sensitive yoga, Ashtanga yoga, and Kundalini yoga. I also practice TRE (traumatic release exercise), mindful movement, and Somatic yoga.
**Yoga Alliance, a registry for yoga teachers and schools, has changed their guidelines in regards to therapeutic yoga and has asked those who opt to register with them to comply with these guidelines.
